Naromoru Sirimon Route 5 Days

5 Days

Mountain climbers always experience warm weather in the low attitudes and cool and sometimes very cold weather. Its also good to have well fitting climbing shoes. This, thus calls for adequate preparation at all times an at any cost to avoid mountain sickness. Occasionally the mountains experience sudden rainfalls or even snowing even on the dry seasons. The terrain is also rough and rocky especially at the high attitudes. In high attitude and especially in moorlands you find the ground being soggy

Transfer to Naromoru Park Gate for registration and where the hike starts. From the gate, keep to the park track, which follows the crest of a board ridge between the Northern and Southern Naromoru valleys. The going is easy and it’s a pleasant walking through the forest. About two thirds of the way up after the bridge there are good views to the left north down into the Northern Naromoru valley. The trek ends at Met station 3,000m for dinner and overnight stay.

Head uphill on the track to pass the radio must on your right after about half an hour. The trek runs into a path and after another 30 minutes, you will reach the end of the forest belt and enter the moorland. Continue through until the going improves and you reach a fork overlooking Teleki Valley to reach Mackinder’s Camp, 4,200m. Packed lunch is offered on the way th occasional rests and photo taking moments. Arrival at Mackinder’s Camp is early to late evening. Dinner and overnight here

Waking up early and after taking hot drinks with some snacks, leave the camp at 3am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns arriving point Lenana at 6:30am, taking about 3hrs. After the sunrise, descend to Shiptons camp full breakfast. Spend the rest of the day on your own or you can take a leisure walk around the camp taking pictures or admiring the wildlife and the vegetation.

After a late breakfast embark on the journey to Old Moses camp through Mackinder’s valley arriving late in the evening. Lunch is served on the way. The camp is relatively warm and here you enjoy the view of Nanyuki town and the Timau plains. Dinner and overnight

After early morning breakfast, descend for 3 hours up to the Sirimon Park gate to catch a vehicle for transfer to Nairobi arriving late afternoon. At the park entrance gate you have the opportunity to bid goodbye to the crew as you appreciate them depending on their services rendered.
