This route leads from Chogoria town up to the peaks circuit path. It heads through the forest to the south-east of the mountain to the moorland. At the Bandas camp you will have a good view of the summit point. This route is claimed to offer some of the best captivating excursion in Kenya along the Gorges Valley.
The Naro Moru route
The route is taken by many of the trekkers who try to reach Point Lenana in a few days. The route starts at Naro Moru town to the west of the mountain and climbs towards Mackinder’s Camp. It passes through the Austria Hut as you get to the final leg of the summit.
The Sirimon route
This route approaches Mount Kenya from the plains in the Nanyuki Timau area on the north-west. The path splits on the moorlands, with the more frequently used fork following the Mackinder’s Valley. The quieter route traverse into the Likii North Valley. The camping areas on this route include the Old Moses and Shipton’s Camp.
